Description
Hobbs Heirloom Wool is one of our most sought-after battings, prized for its soft, luxurious hand and the way it makes piecing and stitching come alive. Made from 100% superwashed wool, it needles beautifully, holds its loft, and springs back with exceptional resilience, so quilting lines stay crisp and defined.
Despite its plush feel, wool is lightweight and naturally breathable, comfortable in any climate, even hot and humid ones. The superwashing process smooths the wool fibers so the batting is pleasant to the touch and far less likely to shrink, and it resists bearding and fiber migration. The roll is 108" wide by 25 yards.

Frequently asked questions
Is wool batting hot to use?
No. Wool is lightweight and breathable, so it regulates temperature well and stays comfortable even in hot, humid climates.
Does it beard or shed?
This superwashed wool is bonded to resist bearding and fiber migration, so it stays put under the needle and behind your fabric.
How high is the loft?
It has a medium loft of about 1/4" to 3/8", giving quilting lines beautiful definition and dimension.
Do I need to pre-wash it?
No. Pre-washing is not recommended. The superwashing process makes it much less likely to shrink.
