Description
Hobbs Tuscany 100% Wool is made from superwashed wool that is carded and bonded to retard bearding. Superwashing smooths the scales on the wool fibers, so the batt is pleasant to the touch and less likely to shrink, and it is machine washable once it is inside a quilt. Hand and machine quilters both choose it, and it is a common pick for show quilts because the loft makes quilting designs stand out.
This king package measures 120" x 120", sized for king bed quilts in one piece, with no batting seam to hide. The wool breathes and lets excess heat move away from the body, so it works in every climate, including hot ones like Texas, where Hobbs makes it.
The loft is about 1/4" to 3/8". Quilt up to 4" apart and expect 3-5% shrinkage. Pre-washing is not recommended. Hobbs rates it excellent for hand and machine quilting, but always test with your fabrics, light or dark.

- Plan on batting at least 2" larger than your top on every side, and about 4" on every side if it is going on a longarm frame. This 120" x 120" batt covers finished tops up to about 116" x 116" for domestic quilting, or about 112" x 112" on a longarm.
- Is wool batting too warm for summer or warm climates?
- Usually not. Wool breathes and moves excess heat away from the body, so it is comfortable across seasons while still feeling warm in winter. It is also light for its warmth.
