Baby Lock's Sashiko Specialty Sewing Machine has the unique ability to replicate a hand-stitched look. Sashiko is a traditional hand embroidery technique using a long needle and thick thread to create decorative topstitches. The Sashiko features a specialized needle system and adjustable stitch length and spacing settings, all used to replicate hand embroidery. A specialty stitch mode allows you to create decorative couching, braiding, cross-stitching, and attaching trims. The specialty stitch mode lets you control the stitches and spacing, which can be adjusted between 2mm and 5mm. You can also adjust the height of the presser foot for fluid, free-motion embroidery sewing. Built-in accessory storage lets you keep tools close at hand, too. Use the Baby Lock Sashiko Specialty Sewing Machine with special sashiko thread, embroidery floss, or cotton embroidery thread; 30-weight or lighter.

SIDE LOADING BOBBIN
As with most quilting machines, the BLQK2 has a side-loading, oscillating bobbin system that makes for easy replacement. It uses Class 15 bobbins that hold more thread so that you can go longer between bobbin replacements. To access the bobbin while sewing, the machine has an easy-open cover that allows timely access to remove and load new bobbins. The Sashiko also includes a built-in bobbin!
Free-flow Sewing & Lights
The adjustable presser foot height allows ease of turning fabric stitching circles, squares, and other shapes for complete control. The entire needle area is surrounded by a lighting system for maximum illumination.
PRESSER FOOT PRESSURE ADJUSTMENT
This is a must-have feature for those serious about creating the perfect stitch. This dial allows you to adjust the force exerted on your fabric by the presser foot, which improves how your fabric is fed through your machine. It also prevents unsightly puckering and stretching on difficult-to-sew fabrics.
Stitch Lenght & Spacing
The stitch length lever and the stitch spacing lever are conveniently located on the right side of the front panel. You will notice there are two sets of numbers ranging from 2 (shortest) through 5 (longest) for each lever. One range is for the stitch length, which forms the actual stitch on top of the fabric. The other one is for the stitch spacing, which is the distance between the actual stitches. Slide the stitch length lever and the stitch spacing lever up or down to your desired setting by aligning the lever's pointed extension with the markings indicated on the machine. The levers do not have to be set at identical settings.
Specialty Stitch Mode
Complete control of stitch and spacing is essential for decorative techniques such as braiding, couching, cross-stitching, and adding trim. Now, with the specialty stitch mode, a complete cycle of one single stitch and space allows the control you need when single-stitch sewing is desired.
Precise Sashiko Stitches
A specialty needle, working in conjunction with a latch wire system, forms defined stitches and precise spacing to create an authentic hand-stitched look.
LED MONITOR
This unique system allows you to easily recognize when the needle is creating a stitch or a space.
- The blue LED light indicates a space, and a stitch will form every time the foot control is pressed.
- The green LED light indicates that the next time the needle penetrates the fabric there will be an actual stitch formed.
- The orange LED light indicates that the next time the needle penetrates the fabric the stitch space will be created.
BUILT-IN STORAGE
Enjoy the extra storage space in the auxiliary bed of your BLQK2. You can keep needles, bobbins, thread, and more. The built-in storage allows you to keep all your sewing accessories secure and makes it easier to transport them.
