Frequently Asked Questions

What thread is best for sewing Cuddle Minky fabric?

A quality polyester thread like Aurifil polyester, Superior Omni, or Glide. Polyester glides through plush pile, stretches slightly with the knit backing, and survives years of cuddles and washing.

Why shouldn't I use cotton thread on minky?

Cotton has no give, so seams can pop when the stretchy minky flexes, and it sheds lint into the plush pile. Polyester's slight stretch and low lint make it the better match.

What needle and stitch length work for minky?

Use a 90/14 stretch or ballpoint needle and lengthen your stitch to 3-3.5mm. A walking foot helps the slippery layers feed evenly, and clips beat pins in the thick pile.
