Do I really need white batting, or will natural do?
If your quilt has a white or pale background — especially with lower thread-count or lighter-weight fabrics — white batting keeps those areas reading crisp, where an unbleached cream layer can subtly yellow them. Under medium and dark fabrics the difference disappears, and natural is fine.
Is bleached cotton batting handled any differently?
No — the scrim construction, quilting spacing, and washing behavior match the natural version exactly. Expect the same modest first-wash shrink and antique crinkle, and the same 8–10 inch maximum quilting spacing courtesy of the scrim.
