I grew up on the Pacific Coast in Southern California. Even though I now live, landlocked, in the Midwest I always find myself drawn back to salty water. Our world’s oceans are deep and confounding, hiding a million mysteries we have yet to discover. It’s this mystery that keeps me coming back to it again and again. Submerging yourself in the water you find a whole alien planet like ours but different. I wanted to play with that idea. I approached this like a floral collection but instead of the usual land flowers we are so used to I replaced the bouquets with sprigs of coral, anemones and seaweed. Mixed among these water florals are the shadows of sharks, colorful seahorses, tropical fish and kraits with the occasional octopus tentacle for good measure. Take a dip in the deep sea and let the magical underwater world wash over you. If you look close you might even find a pearl or two!
