A Handmade Thanksgiving — Corey's favorite fall projects infographic

Hi Bestie,

Let's make something that brings a little more warmth to the table, the home and the people we love. I'd start with pumpkin orange, golden yellow and a project you can enjoy making. Here are my favorite kinds of projects for a season of gratitude.

A Handmade Thanksgiving — Corey's favorite fall projects

My Autumn Palette

Three favorites I'm reaching for all season: Moda Grunge in Pumpkin, Ruby Star Society Speckled in Goldenrod, and King Tut 1058 Pumpkin Spice thread.

01 · A Welcoming Table Runner

I'd piece simple strips or favorite blocks into a runner that makes the table feel special.

Pair it with: Moda Grunge Pumpkin + Speckled Goldenrod + Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 batting.

Corey's tip: Measure your table first, then choose the finished size.

02 · Placemats with Personality

Repeat one simple block for a coordinated set, or mix the colors for each place at the table.

Pair it with: Autumn cottons + Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 + Pumpkin Spice King Tut quilting thread.

Corey's tip: Make one sample before cutting the whole set.

03 · Napkins You'll Use Again

A beautiful cotton napkin makes even a simple meal feel thoughtful.

Pair it with: Moda Grunge Pumpkin or Speckled Goldenrod cotton.

Corey's tip: Prewash cotton fabric according to its care instructions before measuring and hemming.

04 · A Cozy Harvest Pillow

I'd turn a favorite leaf or pumpkin block into a pillow front for the sofa.

Pair it with: Pumpkin and Goldenrod cottons + Hobbs 80/20 for a quilted front.

Corey's tip: Quilt the front first, then assemble it around your chosen pillow insert.

05 · A Little Banner of Gratitude

Try fabric pennants in autumn colors and arrange them into a cheerful garland.

Pair it with: Speckled Goldenrod + Moda Grunge Pumpkin cotton.

Corey's tip: Use a paper template so each pennant matches. Add ribbon or twill tape from your supplies.

06 · Reusable Host-Gift Bags

A small fabric bag turns a thoughtful gift into something that can be used again.

Pair it with: Autumn cotton fabric + coordinating sewing thread.

Corey's tip: Choose the gift first, then allow room for seams and the closure.

The Finishing Touch: King Tut 1058 Pumpkin Spice

King Tut 1058 Pumpkin Spice is a 40-weight cotton on a 2,000-yard cone. I'd use its warm color changes to add interest to the quilting. Test the look and tension on a sample.
