Top 10 Questions About Best Press Scent Free Gallon Refill

Why do professional quilters prefer Best Press over traditional starch?

Best Press is a starch alternative that provides crisp, smooth fabric without starch flaking, residue buildup, or the need to pre-wet fabric. It produces a clean, crisp press that holds well through cutting and piecing without the sticky, flaky problems of traditional cornstarch-based starches.

Why choose Scent Free?

Scent Free is the universal choice for studios with multiple staff, customers with fragrance sensitivities, and anyone who prefers to work without added fragrance. It is also the default for longarm studios where the pressing spray scent would persist in the work environment.

How is the gallon refill used?

Pour the gallon refill into a standard spray bottle (32oz or similar) for use. The gallon provides enough refill for many spray bottles, making the per-ounce cost significantly lower than purchasing individual bottles.

Does Best Press leave residue on fabric?

No — Best Press is formulated to leave no residue, flaking, or buildup on fabric. This is one of its primary advantages over traditional starch.

Is Best Press safe for all quilt fabrics?

Best Press is designed for quilting cotton and most standard quilting fabrics. Always test on a fabric scrap if using on specialty or delicate fabrics, as with any pressing aid.

Does Best Press affect quilt longevity?

Best Press is specifically formulated for textile use and does not introduce the acidity or flaking concerns associated with traditional starch for long-term quilt storage and archival purposes.

How does the gallon format compare economically to individual bottles?

The gallon refill provides significantly better per-ounce pricing than individual 16oz bottles. For studios and regular users, the gallon is the economical standard choice.

Is Best Press effective for pressing seams on quilt tops?

Yes — pressing seams with Best Press produces crisp, flat seams that remain pressed through the cutting and sewing process, improving piecing accuracy.

Are there other Best Press scents available?

Yes — Best Press is also available in Linen Fresh and Lavender Fields scents at Linda’s. The gallon refill is available in Scent Free and Linen Fresh formats.
