What are the benefits of a cotton/wool blend batting?

Cotton provides natural breathability, soft hand, and the beloved vintage crinkle after washing. Wool adds natural temperature regulation, exceptional warmth-to-weight ratio, resilience (the batting springs back after compression), and moisture-wicking properties. Together they create a batting that is warmer than cotton alone, lighter than comparable thickness polyester, and more breathable than either single-fiber batting.

Is Tuscany Cotton Wool appropriate for bed quilts?

Yes — the Tuscany Cotton Wool is specifically well-suited to bed quilts where natural temperature regulation is valued. The wool component helps the finished quilt feel warm in cool temperatures and breathable in warm temperatures.

Is Tuscany Cotton Wool appropriate for longarm quilting?

Yes, with care. Load with appropriate leader tension and use recommended stitch distances. The natural fiber composition requires similar care to wool batting in terms of loading tension and stitch density.

Does Cotton Wool batting shrink after washing?

Some shrinkage is expected from the cotton component. Wash in cold water on gentle cycle and dry on low heat. The wool component requires gentle care to prevent felting.

What stitch distance is recommended?

Check current Hobbs recommendations for Tuscany Cotton Wool. Natural fiber battings typically require closer quilting than polyester for long-term stability.

Is this a premium batting for customer upsell?

Yes — Tuscany Cotton Wool is positioned as a luxury natural batting upgrade for customers wanting the warmth and performance benefits of wool combined with the familiar feel of cotton.

Is the king package format economical?

Package format is appropriate for individual king quilts. For studios producing multiple king quilts, roll format provides better per-yard economy.

What is the king package size?

Check current product listing for specific king package dimensions. Tuscany batting king packages are typically sized to accommodate a standard king quilt with appropriate overlap margins.

Is Tuscany Cotton Wool suitable for heirloom quilts?

Yes — the natural fiber composition and premium Tuscany quality make Cotton Wool appropriate for heirloom quilts where natural materials and superior performance are valued.

How does Tuscany Cotton Wool compare to pure Tuscany Wool?

Pure Tuscany Wool is entirely wool and provides maximum temperature regulation and loft; Cotton Wool includes cotton for familiar hand and a lower price point than pure wool while still providing significant wool benefits.
