Jelly Roll Sasher

The Jelly Roll Sasher is a purpose-built tool for quickly and accurately folding 2.5" jelly roll strips into uniform sashing units. Rather than pressing each strip individually, the Jelly Roll Sasher folds the strip as you guide it through, producing consistently sized folded sashing ready for quilt assembly — dramatically speeding up jelly roll sashing projects.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is jelly roll sashing and why do I need a sasher?

Jelly roll sashing uses folded 2.5" strips as the connecting element between quilt blocks, creating a three-dimensional, textured effect on the quilt surface. The Jelly Roll Sasher makes creating hundreds of uniform folded strips fast and consistent — without it, each strip must be pressed individually which is very time-consuming.

Is the Jelly Roll Sasher the same as the standard Sasher?

The Jelly Roll Sasher is specifically sized for 2.5" strips (jelly roll width). Other Sasher sizes are available for different strip widths. Match the tool to the strip width you are working with.

Can I use the Jelly Roll Sasher for making binding?

While primarily designed for sashing, the uniform folding action also works for preparing 2.5" binding strips. However, standard binding preparation typically uses a different fold than sashing units.

Does the sasher require heat or an iron?

Many saisher-style tools work in combination with an iron — the tool guides the fold and the iron sets the crease. Follow the included instructions for your specific tool. Some versions are designed for use with starch for a crisper fold.

What patterns are best suited for jelly roll sashing?

Jelly roll rug patterns, I Spy quilts with sashing frames, and any block-based design with consistent sashing between blocks work beautifully with jelly roll sasher strips. The Woven Jelly Roll Rug Pattern is a popular companion project.
