How does navy-on-white differ from the light blue version?

Navy on white creates a bolder, higher-contrast backing with a more formal, crisp American flag character. Light blue on white is softer and more casual. Navy on white is the right choice when you want a backing that makes a strong patriotic statement.

What thread color works best on navy and white star backing?

White thread blends on white areas; navy thread blends on navy stars. A medium blue thread blends across both. For a dramatic tonal effect, a cream or grey thread creates subtle contrast across the entire backing surface.

How many yards do I need for a queen backing?

3 yards of 108"+ wideback provides single-piece coverage for most queen quilts with adequate loading margin. Order 3.5 yards for generous overhang.

Is this the same backing fabric as the light blue and cream star versions?

Same pattern, different colorway. All three patriotic star versions feature the same bold star motif printed on 108"+ wideback cotton — the navy-on-white version provides the strongest color contrast of the three.

Should I pre-wash this wideback fabric before use?

Yes — pre-wash in cold water on a gentle cycle to remove sizing and allow initial shrinkage before cutting to size.
