Frequently Asked Questions
What is pieced sashing in QAYG quilting?
In QAYG quilting, pieced sashing connects individual quilted blocks after they are finished. The sashing strips are often themselves quilted and then sewn between blocks to create the final quilt layout — no wrestling with a large quilt through a domestic machine.
Can I use this template set with blocks of any size?
The sashing templates are sized for 2" finished sashing, which is versatile enough to work with most block sizes used in the QAYG system. Refer to your specific QAYG pattern instructions for confirmation.
Do I need other QAYG template sets to use this one?
You can use this set independently if you already have your block pieces cut and need only the sashing templates. It pairs most naturally with the corresponding QAYG block template sets in the same collection.
Is 2" sashing standard?
2" finished sashing is a popular and versatile choice — wide enough to frame blocks clearly, narrow enough to not overwhelm the block design. Other sashing widths may be available in separate sets.
What acrylic thickness are the templates made from?
The templates are made from thick quilter’s acrylic that resists warping and holds a stable edge against a rotary cutter for clean, consistent cuts project after project.
