Top 10 Questions About QD Wool King Roll

Why choose wool batting for king bed quilts?

Wool naturally regulates temperature — warm in cold conditions, breathable in warm conditions. The resulting bed quilt provides year-round comfort that cotton and polyester battings cannot match. For clients investing in a premium king bed quilt, wool batting is the highest-performance natural option.

How many kings does 20 yards provide?

At approximately 3.5 yards per king, approximately 5–6 king quilts per roll.

Does wool require special care?

Yes — wool batting requires gentle washing (cold water, gentle or wool cycle) and low-heat drying. High heat can cause irreversible felting.

Is wool appropriate for longarm quilting?

Yes, with care — load with appropriate leader tension and use Quilters Dream’s recommended stitch distance for wool batting.

Is this a premium upsell?

Yes — wool batting commands a significant premium and produces a noticeably superior bed quilt. It is the most effective high-end batting upsell available.

Is 120" width sufficient for king quilts?

Yes — 120" accommodates full king quilts without batting piecing.

Does QD Wool shrink?

Gentle care prevents significant shrinkage. Avoid high heat which can cause felting and compaction.

Is this appropriate for heirloom quilts?

Yes — premium wool batting has been used in heirloom quilts for centuries.

How does QD Wool compare to Hobbs Tuscany Wool?

Both are quality 100% wool battings from leading manufacturers. Studio preference develops through regular use of both; differences in drape and loft handling are subtle.

Is roll format economical for wool?

Roll format provides better per-yard economy than packaged wool batting for studios with regular wool production.
