Frequently Asked Questions

What does scrim-free mean?

Scrim is a thin stabilizing fabric layer needled into the batting during manufacturing. Scrim-free batting (like Tuscany Bleached) has no added layer — just pure batting fiber. It produces the finest, most drapey hand but requires more care when loading on a longarm.

Does pre-shrunk batting still shrink in the wash?

Very minimally — pre-shrunk batting has had most of the shrinkage removed during processing. You still get slight additional shrinkage on first home washing, but far less than non-pre-shrunk cotton batting.
