Description
Linda's Choice is a bleached 100% cotton batting made for us by Hobbs to Linda V. Taylor's specification for show quilts and wall hangings. The cotton is bleached bright white and needled into a fine polyester scrim, so white and pastel tops stay bright with no fiber shadow or light lint on the surface. The roll is 108" wide by 25 yards.
It is flat, firm and low-loft, which gives sharp stitch definition for detailed quilting, and it holds square on the frame. It shrinks 3-5% on first wash and should be quilted within 4".

Compare and choose
- What makes Linda's Choice different from regular Hobbs bleached cotton?
- The batting is the same family: Hobbs-made bleached 100% cotton with scrim. Linda's Choice is the 108" x 25 yard format Linda specified for show work; the standard Hobbs bleached cotton roll is 96" x 30 yards. Pick by width. Hobbs bleached cotton 96" roll
- Is 100% cotton good for show quilts?
- Yes. Low-loft cotton lies flat, blocks square and shows fine quilting clearly. Many judges prefer the traditional flat look. For more texture and loft, wool is the usual alternative. Hobbs Heirloom Wool 108" roll
- 96" vs 108" vs 120": which width for my quilt?
- Pick a batting at least 4" wider than the shorter side of your quilt top. A 108" roll covers queen tops (about 90" x 108") with room to spare and oversized queens, but a true king (108" to 120" wide) does not fit in one piece; for king, use a 120" roll. 120" roll
- Do you ship batting rolls to Alaska or Hawaii?
- No. Rolls and boards ship only to the 48 contiguous states; orders from Alaska, Hawaii or outside the US are cancelled and refunded. Pre-cut packages ship to all locations. Shop packaged batting
- Do I need to pre-wash this batting?
- No. Pre-washing is not recommended. Expect 3-5% shrinkage in the first wash, which gives the soft, crinkled finish most quilters want.
