Description

In-R-Form Sew In is Bosal's foam stabilizer laminated to brushed polyester, with no adhesive. It is soft and formable, easy to stitch, and it curves your fabric to the shape you want, which is why bag makers use it in purses, totes and bags. This package is one 18" x 58" piece.

Because it is sew-in, you baste or quilt it to the fabric instead of fusing. That keeps the bag soft and avoids fusing heat on vinyl, cork, laminates and other fabrics that do not like an iron. Quilting through the fabric and foam also gives the classic puffy, quilt-as-you-go look.

The 18" x 58" piece covers a purse or small tote. For larger bags buy the 36" x 58".

Compare and choose

Sew-in or fusible In-R-Form: which should I buy?
Fusible In-R-Form bonds to the fabric with an iron, so there is no basting and panels stay smooth. Sew-in has no adhesive, so you quilt or baste it in place. Choose sew-in when your fabric cannot take an iron (vinyl, cork, laminates), when you want a quilted, puffy look, or when you want the softest possible bag. In-R-Form single-sided fusible 18" x 58"
In-R-Form Sew In vs Soft and Stable: what is the difference?
Both are sew-in foams in 58" long pieces for bags. Soft and Stable from ByAnnie is the one many bag patterns name; In-R-Form Sew In from Bosal is laminated to brushed polyester. Both quilt easily and give soft structure. If your pattern calls for one, use that one; otherwise either works. Soft and Stable white 18" x 58"
How do I keep sew-in foam from shifting?
Baste the fabric to the foam within the seam allowance, or quilt the panel before cutting it to size. Quilting through foam and fabric holds them together permanently and gives the panel a finished, padded look. A walking foot helps.
Can I use In-R-Form Sew In for a drying mat or hot pad?
It makes a padded drying mat; we sell a Dry Ideas Drying Mat precut made from this foam. It is not a heat-resistant material, so for hot pads and trivets use an insulated batting such as Insul-Bright with cotton batting. Foam is not microwave-safe. Dry Ideas Drying Mat In-R-Form precut
Which size should I buy?
Both pieces are 58" long. The 18" x 58" covers a purse or small tote; the 36" x 58" covers a medium tote or two smaller bags. Lay your pattern pieces out at the sheet size before you buy. 36" x 58" sew-in
