Description
Pellon Bamboo/Cotton with Scrim is the softest-draping low-loft batting in the Pellon line: a 47% rayon-from-bamboo, 46% cotton blend that feels silkier than plain cotton and breathes well in a summer-weight quilt. The 81" x 96" full package covers a full or double bed top. It also suits a queen top with no side drop, provided the top is 77" or narrower.
Like the other Pellon scrim battings it is needle-punched through a 7% polypropylene scrim, so it holds together under a longarm or walking foot and can be quilted up to 10" apart. Loft is 1/16", shrinkage is 3-5% in the first wash, and the color is a natural cream that disappears under most fabrics. It machine washes and dries like cotton.

- Bamboo/cotton vs Pellon 100% cotton with scrim: which is softer?
- The bamboo blend. Rayon made from bamboo has a smoother, silkier fiber than cotton, so the finished quilt drapes more loosely and feels cooler against the skin. - Full or queen package for my quilt?
- Add 4" to each side of your top. The full package is 81" x 96", good for tops up to about 77" x 92". Wider tops need the 96" x 108" queen package. Pellon Bamboo/Cotton queen package
- Is bamboo batting warm?
- It is a lightweight, breathable batting rather than a warm one. At 1/16" loft it traps little air, and rayon from bamboo wicks moisture, so quilts made with it sleep cool. For a warmer quilt use wool or a higher-loft polyester.
- Do I need to pre-wash it, and does it shrink?
- No pre-washing. Expect 3-5% shrinkage in the first wash, about the same as cotton, which gives a soft, slightly crinkled finish. Wash the finished quilt on gentle and tumble dry low.
- Can I use it in a microwave bowl cozy?
- No. Rayon and the polypropylene scrim are not microwave-safe. Use Pellon Wrap-N-Zap for anything that goes in a microwave. Pellon Wrap-N-Zap
