Description

Quilters Dream Bamboo on the roll, for longarm studios whose customers ask for the softest, drapiest batting in the line. Dream Bamboo blends bamboo, Tussah silk, Tencel and cotton into a Select-loft batting with a silky hand that is cool in summer and warm in winter. Each roll is 60" wide by 30 yards. The 60" width is the throw and crib roll: baby quilts, lap quilts and wearables, around fifteen 60" x 72" throws per roll.

Dream Bamboo is a blend of velvety bamboo, Tussah silk, Tencel and cotton. The bamboo gives softness and absorbency; the long Tussah silk and Tencel fibers add strength, resilience and a silky hand; and cleaned upland USA cotton adds breathability and stability. The fibers are blended, carded, crosslapped and finely needle-punched, with no scrim, so the batting stays smooth and drapes like a fine cloth. Quilt as closely as you like or up to 8" apart, by hand, on a domestic machine or on a longarm. No pre-washing; shrinkage is minimal. Machine wash and dry the finished quilt with cool water and a cool dryer, or dry clean.

This roll is a pre-order item and ships in roughly 8 weeks.

What quilts fit a 60" roll?
Crib, baby and throw quilts, runners and wearables. The 60" width covers a top up to about 56" on its short side. A twin top (about 72" wide) does not fit in one piece; use the 93" roll for twin through queen and the 120" roll for king. see the 93" roll
Roll or pre-cut package: which Dream Bamboo format should I buy?
The roll is the lowest cost per yard and suits studios that offer bamboo as a client upgrade. The pre-cut package is one batt sized for one quilt, Craft to King. Dream Bamboo package
Quilters Dream Bamboo vs Dream Cotton: what does the bamboo blend add?
Drape and a silky hand. Dream Cotton Select is a pure cotton with a traditional feel; Dream Bamboo blends bamboo, silk, Tencel and cotton into a softer, more fluid batting that feels cool in summer and warm in winter. Both are Select loft, needle-punched with no scrim, and quilt up to 8" apart. Bamboo costs more; choose it for heirloom quilts and anything meant to be snuggled under. Select Natural Cotton package
Quilters Dream Bamboo vs Bosal Kennebago bamboo blend roll: which should I buy?
Kennebago is a bamboo rayon and cotton blend on a 96" roll; Dream Bamboo adds Tussah silk and Tencel to the bamboo and cotton, which gives it a silkier hand and more resilience. Both are soft, drapey and low-shrink. Dream Bamboo is the more luxurious batting; Kennebago is the value option in the same fiber family. Bosal Kennebago 96" x 30 yd roll
Can Dream Bamboo be longarm quilted?
Yes. It is a finely needle-punched batting with enough body to load and advance on a frame, and Quilters Dream rates it for hand, domestic and longarm quilting. Keep stitching within 8".
Do I need to pre-wash Dream Bamboo, and how do I wash the quilt?
No pre-washing; shrinkage is minimal. Wash the finished quilt in cool water and dry on a cool setting, or dry clean. Avoid hot water and high dryer heat, which are harder on the silk and bamboo fibers.
Can I use bamboo batting for microwave bowl cozies?
No. Dream Bamboo contains silk and Tencel and is not rated for microwave use. Use 100% cotton batting with no scrim, or Pellon Wrap-N-Zap, with cotton fabric and cotton thread. Pellon Wrap-N-Zap
Do you ship batting rolls to Alaska or Hawaii?
No. Rolls and boards ship only to the 48 contiguous states; orders from Alaska, Hawaii or outside the US are cancelled and refunded. Pre-cut packages ship to all locations. Shop packaged batting
