If you want the softness of classic Cuddle® 3 without piecing a backing together from narrower cuts, Pink Wildrose Cuddle 3 Extra Wide Solid Fabric from Shannon Fabrics is the easy answer. In a soft wildrose pink, this extra-wide minky gives you one smooth, seamless panel for quilts and oversized throws — no center seam, no patching, just plush comfort from edge to edge.

What This Fabric Is

This is Shannon Fabrics' Cuddle® 3 minky plush in an extra-wide format. It is made from 100% polyester with a short, smooth 3mm pile — the low, silky plush that makes Cuddle® 3 so popular for backings. It is not a lofty or shaggy minky; the pile lies flat and even, which helps it feed smoothly and quilt without excess bulk in the seams.

The width is the headline feature: 88 to 90 inches wide. At 480 grams per linear yard, it has a cozy, substantial weight that drapes nicely over a bed or sofa while remaining manageable at a home sewing machine. It is the same irresistibly smooth Cuddle® 3 fabric quilters already know and love, just wider. Made in South Korea, it comes in a solid Wildrose pink that pairs beautifully with floral quilt tops, nursery prints, and soft pastel palettes.

Before cutting, run your hand across the surface. Minky pile has a direction — it feels smoother stroking one way — so mark the top of each piece on the wrong side and keep the nap running the same way throughout your project.

What It's Best For

  • Seamless quilt backings: At 88/90 inches wide, it backs most throw, twin, and many larger quilts in a single piece — the use Shannon Fabrics highlights first for this extra-wide line.
  • Oversized throw blankets: Use it whole-cloth with a simple binding for a larger-than-life, super-cozy throw, or pair it with a cotton top for a two-sided blanket.
  • Tablecloths and curtains: Shannon Fabrics also suggests this extra-wide format for tablecloths and curtains, where the generous width reduces or eliminates seaming.
  • Whole-cloth quilts: The solid pink is pretty enough to stand on its own — add quilting and binding and let the color and soft texture carry the design.

How to Sew with It

Use clips instead of pins where you can. Plush layers can creep under pins, and pins can disappear into the pile. Wonder clips grip the edges firmly without shifting layers. If you do pin, pin generously and keep pins within the seam allowance.

Fit a walking foot and lengthen your stitch. A walking foot feeds the plush evenly with the layer beneath it, keeping seams straight instead of wavy. Set your stitch length to about 3.0 to 3.5mm — longer stitches settle neatly into the 3mm pile, while very short stitches can pucker the fabric and get buried in the plush.

Cut flat and fully supported. Lay this wide fabric out so its weight does not drag it off grain, and cut one layer at a time with a rotary cutter or sharp scissors. Expect a little fluff at the cut edges — shake pieces outdoors and keep a lint roller near your machine.

Press gently, and only from the back. Polyester plush does not tolerate high heat, which can flatten or damage the pile. Finger-press when you can; if you need an iron, use a low synthetic setting on the wrong side only, with a press cloth, and test on a scrap first. Never press directly on the plush face.

Care Instructions

Follow the care guidance for this fabric: machine wash cold with like colors, no fabric softener, and tumble dry low with no dryer sheet. Softener and dryer-sheet coatings build up on polyester fibers and dull that ultra-soft feel over time, so skipping them helps the plush stay smooth and cuddly wash after wash. Avoid high heat in both washing and drying.
