7010 Black
MicroQuilter 7010 Black provides virtually invisible micro-stippling on dark and black cotton fabrics at 100wt. On charcoal and near-black fabrics that aren't a true black, 7009 Dark Gray and the neutral range may blend better; line fundamentals and needle guidance live in the MicroQuilter 100wt overview, and the full palette is in the colour range guide.
100wt 2-ply polyester. Large cone.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why quilt black-on-black with 100wt?
Dark quilts are the hardest place to hide thread — any sheen or lint catches light. A fine matched black at 100wt reduces the thread to pure texture, letting dense fills and micro-stippling sculpt black negative space without a visible thread line anywhere.
Black or dark grey on charcoal fabrics?
True black on true black; once the fabric lightens to charcoal, black thread reads as a dark outline and 7009 Dark Gray disappears better. Lay a strand of each across the fabric in daylight — the one you lose track of first wins.
Any tension tips for fine black thread?
The same fine-thread rules apply, and they matter more because flaws show as light flecks: a 70/10–75/11 needle, slightly relaxed top tension, and a matching black bobbin so any tension pop stays black-on-black.
