The Hobbs Polyester 6oz 96" Wide Batting Roll is a lightweight, medium-loft polyester longarm batting in a wide-format roll — dimensional, easy-care quilts with a puffy finish that bounces back after every wash.

Weight: 6oz per square yard — medium loft; fluffier than Thermore, lighter than 9oz
Width / length: 96" x 30 yards — roughly 10–12 queen battings per roll
Fiber: 100% polyester, bonded to minimize bearding; hypoallergenic, resists dust mites and mildew
6oz has less loft and is easier to quilt through — better for detailed free-motion and dense pantographs. 9oz is plusher and suits tied quilts and simpler designs.
Does polyester batting shrink?
No — unlike cotton, polyester doesn't shrink in the wash, so quilts keep their dimensions and the loft recovers fully after drying.
Does it breathe like cotton?
No — polyester traps warmth rather than breathing. For summer or warm-climate quilts, cotton or an 80/20 blend is more comfortable; 6oz poly excels where warmth and loft retention matter.
Is it right for wall hangings?
A lower-loft cotton batting hangs flatter and shows quilting more crisply. The 6oz poly is better for functional quilts where dimension and warmth are the goal.
How does it load on a longarm?
The 96" roll loads cleanly onto batting leaders and feeds evenly through the frame without bunching.
