Why is the 45" x 40-yard roll a better value than smaller formats?

The large roll significantly reduces the per-yard cost compared to smaller packages. For studios producing casserole carriers and oven mitts in volume, the 45" width also allows cutting multiple pieces per row without the width constraints of the 22" narrow roll.

How does the 45" width change cutting efficiency for casserole carriers?

A standard casserole carrier uses batting pieces approximately 12" x 20" or similar. At 45", you can cut three or more pieces per row across the width, significantly increasing cutting efficiency compared to the 22" narrow roll.

Is the 45" roll the same Insul-Bright product as the 22" roll?

Yes — identical construction and performance. Only the width and total yardage differ.

Can Insul-Bright be used in the microwave?

No — Insul-Bright contains a metalized polyester film that is NOT microwave safe. For microwave projects, use Pellon Wrap-N-Zap (100% cotton). Insul-Bright is designed for conventional oven protection only.

What is the difference between one and two layers of Insul-Bright for an oven mitt?

Two layers of Insul-Bright provide significantly better heat protection than one layer. Most oven mitt patterns call for two layers. For very high-heat baking environments, three layers are sometimes used.
