Frequently Asked Questions

What can I make from 1 yard of Insul-Bright?

One yard (36" x 45") provides enough Insul-Bright for approximately one set of oven mitts (using two layers per mitt), four large pot holders, or two casserole carrier panels. It’s the right quantity for a single project without leftover material.

Is this the same product as the larger rolls?

Yes — identical construction and performance as the larger 22-yard and 45-yard rolls, simply sold as a pre-cut single yard for project convenience.

Can this be used in the microwave?

No — Insul-Bright contains a metallic film that is NOT microwave safe. For microwave projects (bowl cozies, microwave pot holders), use Pellon Wrap-N-Zap (100% cotton with no metallic content).

How many layers of Insul-Bright should I use for an oven mitt?

Most patterns call for two layers per mitt for adequate heat protection. For very high-heat baking environments, three layers provide enhanced protection.

Is 1 yard enough for a casserole carrier?

A standard 9" x 13" casserole carrier uses approximately 0.75–1 yard of Insul-Bright depending on the pattern. 1 yard provides just enough material for a single carrier.
