Frequently Asked Questions
Is Soft & Bright suitable for longarm quilting?
Yes — Soft & Bright needles well on longarm machines. The polyester construction glides smoothly under the needle and produces minimal lint compared to cotton battings.
How many table runners can I get from a 50-yard roll?
A standard 16" x 72" table runner uses about 2 yards of batting. A 50-yard roll yields approximately 25 table runners with minimal waste if cut efficiently.
Does polyester batting shrink in the wash?
Polyester batting has negligible shrinkage. Quilts made with Soft & Bright can be washed in warm water and dried on a normal cycle without significant size change.
What is the difference between Soft & Bright and Warm & Natural?
Soft & Bright is 100% polyester and is lighter and easier to needle than Warm & Natural, which is 100% cotton. Polyester battings dry faster and have more consistent loft; cotton battings provide a flatter, more antique look and feel.
Can I use this batting for pot holders or bowl cozies?
No — standard polyester batting is not heat-resistant and should not be used for pot holders or microwaveable items. Use Insul-Bright or similar insulating batting for heat-resistant projects.
