Warm and Natural Cotton Batting 90in x 40 YD Roll

The Warm and Natural Cotton Batting — 90" x 40 Yard Roll is America’s most trusted natural cotton batting in the standard production roll format — 40 yards of unbleached, needle-punched, scrim-bonded 100% cotton batting at the most widely used production width. This is the go-to roll for studios that have made Warm and Natural their standard natural cotton offering, providing exceptional production economy and the reliable performance that has made Warm and Natural the industry benchmark for over a generation.

Top 10 Questions About Warm and Natural 90in x 40 Yard Roll

Why does the 40-yard roll make Warm and Natural economical for production?

40 yards per roll — more yardage than most competing rolls at this width — means fewer roll changes, better per-yard pricing, and lower total inventory cost per quilt for studios with regular Warm and Natural production.

How many queen quilts does 40 yards provide?

At approximately 2.75 yards per queen, 40 yards provides approximately 14–15 queen quilts per roll.

Why is Warm and Natural the benchmark natural cotton batting?

Decades of consistent quality, reliable needle-punch bonding, and characteristic natural cotton hand have made Warm and Natural the baseline reference for natural cotton batting. Its 10" maximum stitch distance is also more forgiving than many competing cotton battings.

What is the recommended stitch distance?

Warm Company recommends quilting lines no more than 10" apart for Warm and Natural — the most forgiving stitch requirement of any major natural cotton batting brand.

Does it shrink?

Yes — 3–5% after first wash, creating the vintage crinkle characteristic of cotton batting quilts.

Does it need pre-washing?

No — use directly from the roll.

Is 90" wide sufficient for queen quilts?

Yes — 90" accommodates queen quilts with standard loading overlap. For king quilts, two widths seamed together or wider batting format is needed.

Is this appropriate for hand quilting?

Yes — Warm and Natural is a respected hand quilting batting. Its natural cotton construction allows needles to pass through with minimal resistance.

Why choose Natural over Warm and White?

Natural’s warm off-white tone is appropriate for cream, ivory, and warm-palette quilt tops. For white or cool-toned tops, Warm and White (bleached) provides a brighter match.

Is this the standard production roll for regular use?

Yes — the 90" x 40 yard roll is Warm and Natural’s flagship production format and the standard purchase for studios committed to Warm and Natural as their primary natural cotton offering.
