Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Warm & White and Warm & Natural?
Warm & White is made from bleached cotton, giving it a bright white color ideal for white-on-white quilts and bright modern designs. Warm & Natural is unbleached, giving it a warm off-white tone perfect for reproduction, antique, and earth-toned quilts. Both are 100% cotton with similar loft and performance.
How many queen-size quilts can I get from a 40-yard roll?
A standard queen quilt requires approximately 3 yards of 90" batting with loading overhang. A 40-yard roll yields approximately 13 queen quilts.
Is Warm & White good for longarm quilting?
Yes — Warm & White is widely used on longarm machines. Its consistent construction and cotton fiber make it easy to needle and produce a flat, traditional finish. Cotton produces more lint than polyester, so clean your machine regularly.
Does bleached cotton batting have any chemical residue?
The bleaching process used by The Warm Company is safe for quilting use. If you are sensitive to chemical treatments, pre-washing the batting before use will remove any remaining sizing or treatment residue.
Can I use Warm & White for hand quilting?
Yes — the low loft and cotton fiber make it an excellent hand quilting choice. The flat profile allows for small, even hand stitches and produces a traditional quilt appearance.
