Description

This is the production roll of Warm & White: 90" wide, 40 yards, about thirteen queen cuts of bright white cotton batting for studios that quilt a lot of white-background, pastel and modern low-volume tops. It covers queen and smaller in one piece. If you only occasionally need white, the 20-yard roll is the same batting in a smaller commitment; for king tops use the 124" roll.

Warm & White is 100% purified cotton needle-punched through a thin polypropylene scrim. Purifying the cotton removes the oils and plant flecks that give Warm & Natural its cream color, so nothing shadows through pale fabric. It loads flat, holds its shape under tension, shows stitch definition well and can be quilted or tied up to 10" apart. It is slightly less lofty than Warm & Natural. No resins or glues.

Quilt straight from the roll; no pre-washing. The manufacturer rates this roll at about 3% shrinkage in a cold-water wash.

Compare and choose

Is 90" wide enough for a queen, or do I need 124"?
A standard queen (about 90" x 108") fits with the 108" along the roll and no spare width. Longarmers who want 3" to 4" of batting beyond the top on each side, and anyone quilting king tops, should buy the 124" roll. Warm & White 124" x 30 yd roll
Warm & White vs Hobbs Linda's Choice bleached cotton 108": which for show quilts?
Linda's Choice is the bleached cotton with scrim Hobbs makes for us at 108" wide, with the softer Hobbs hand and 4" stitch spacing. Warm & White is firmer, flatter, rated to 10", and comes at 90" or 124". For dense custom quilting on a white wholecloth either works; for a pantograph with open areas, Warm & White. Hobbs Linda's Choice Bleached Cotton 108" roll
How many quilts will I get from this roll?
About thirteen queen cuts, fifteen full, twenty twin or twenty-four throw cuts from 1,440" of length, assuming no waste.
Warm & White vs Warm & Natural: what is actually different?
The cotton and the construction are the same: needle-punched on a polypropylene scrim, low loft, quilt up to 10" apart. Warm & White's cotton is purified, which removes the natural oils and flecks and leaves it bright white, slightly less lofty, and lower in shrinkage. Use Warm & White under white, pastel and light tone-on-tone tops; use Warm & Natural under everything else. Warm & Natural batting
Warm & White vs Hobbs bleached cotton with scrim: which white cotton?
Both are bleached or purified 100% cotton on a scrim, low loft, for light-colored quilts. Warm & White is the firmer, flatter batt and is rated for 10" stitch spacing; Hobbs is softer in the hand and should be quilted within 4". Choose Warm & White for wall hangings, white-on-white quilting with open areas, or anything that must stay square; choose Hobbs when drape matters more. Hobbs Bleached Heirloom Cotton with Scrim 96" roll
Will white batting make my quilt look different from natural?
Only under light fabrics, and that is the point. Under white, cream, pastel and low-volume tops, a cream batt with cotton flecks can show as a faint shadow or speckle; Warm & White keeps those fabrics looking clean. Under medium and dark fabrics you will not see a difference.
Can I use Warm & White for microwave bowl cozies?
No. Like Warm & Natural, it has a polypropylene scrim that can melt or scorch in the microwave. Use Pellon Wrap-N-Zap with cotton thread and fabric for anything microwaved. Pellon Wrap-N-Zap microwave-safe batting
Do you ship batting rolls to Alaska or Hawaii?
No. Rolls and boards ship only to the 48 contiguous states; orders from Alaska, Hawaii or outside the US are cancelled and refunded. Pre-cut packages ship to all locations. Shop packaged batting
