Description
Quilters Dream Select White Cotton is the bleached version of Dream Cotton: 100% cotton, no scrim, no resin, no glue. Buy it when the quilt top is white, cream or pastel, where an unbleached batting can shadow through and dull the fabric. Select is the mid loft in the line, the same weight as the natural Select roll.
Each roll is 93" wide by 30 yards. A queen top (about 90" x 108") fits with the 108" running along the roll, so the roll covers queen and everything smaller: full, twin, throw and crib. King tops need the 120" roll.
It quilts by hand or machine, drapes softly and can be stitched as closely as you like or up to 8" apart. Shrinkage is minimal and pre-washing is not recommended. With no scrim or polyester it is microwave-safe when used with cotton fabric and cotton thread.

Cut lengths run along the 30-yard roll; width is fixed at 93". Counts are approximate and assume no waste.

- White or natural Dream Cotton: do I really need the white?
- Only under light fabrics. Natural Dream Cotton is unbleached and fine under most prints, but under white, cream or pale pastel tops its faint tan tone can shadow through. Select White is the same batting, bleached, so whites stay white. If your tops are mostly medium or dark, buy the natural roll and save a little. Select Natural Cotton 93" roll
- Dream Select White Cotton vs Warm & White: what is the difference?
- Warm & White is bleached needle-punched cotton with a scrim, so it is firmer, flatter and can be quilted up to 10" apart. Dream Select White has no scrim: softer hand, more drape, easier hand needling, quilted within 8". Choose Warm & White for wall hangings and wide spacing; choose Dream White for a soft bed quilt. - Select White vs Request White Cotton: which loft?
- Request is the thinnest loft in the Dream Cotton line; Select is the mid loft. Request gives a very flat, antique look and is the lightest to hand quilt. Select adds a little more body and warmth and is the better all-round choice for bed quilts. Request White Cotton roll
- Will the 93" roll cover a king quilt?
- Not in one piece. A king top runs 108" to 120" wide, so it does not fit across a 93" roll. The 93" roll covers queen (about 90" x 108", with the 108" running along the roll) and everything smaller. For king tops use the 120" roll. 120" roll
- Do I need to pre-wash it?
- No. Quilters Dream does not recommend pre-washing. Shrinkage is minimal, so expect only a light crinkle after the first wash.
- Can I use it for microwave bowl cozies?
- Yes. Select White Cotton is 100% cotton with no scrim, resin or polyester, so it is microwave-safe when the whole project uses cotton fabric and cotton thread.
- Do you ship batting rolls to Alaska or Hawaii?
