Description

The 90" x 20 yard roll is the smaller of the two 90" Warm & White rolls: about six queen cuts, enough to keep a white batting on hand for the light quilts that come through without committing to 40 yards. It covers queen tops and smaller in one piece. Longarmers who see a lot of pale tops buy the 40-yard roll; king tops need the 124" roll.

Warm & White is Warm & Natural's purified-cotton twin: 100% cotton needle-punched through a thin polypropylene scrim, bright white with no cotton flecks to shadow through white, pastel or tone-on-tone fabric. It is flat, stable on the frame, and can be quilted or tied up to 10" apart. It is slightly less lofty than Warm & Natural. No resins or glues.

Quilt straight from the roll without pre-washing. The manufacturer rates this roll at about 3% shrinkage in a cold-water wash, which gives a subtle quilted texture after the first laundering.

Compare and choose

Is 90" wide enough for a queen?
A standard queen top (about 90" x 108") fits with the 108" running along the roll and no spare width. If you longarm and want batting beyond the top on each side for the clamps, or if the top is oversized, use the 124" roll. King tops do not fit a 90" roll in one piece. Warm & White 124" x 30 yd roll
20 yards or 40 yards of Warm & White?
Twenty yards is about six queens and suits a quilter who uses white batting for some projects but not all. The 40-yard roll is the lower cost per yard for a studio that quilts pale tops every week. Warm & White 90" x 40 yd roll
Warm & White vs Pellon White Cotton with Scrim 90" roll?
Close competitors: both bleached 100% cotton on a scrim, low loft, about 3% shrinkage. Warm & White is the firmer batt with a 10" stitch-spacing rating; Pellon's white cotton is a little softer. Either is right for light quilts. Pellon White Cotton with Scrim 90" x 40 yd roll
Warm & White vs Warm & Natural: what is actually different?
The cotton and the construction are the same: needle-punched on a polypropylene scrim, low loft, quilt up to 10" apart. Warm & White's cotton is purified, which removes the natural oils and flecks and leaves it bright white, slightly less lofty, and lower in shrinkage. Use Warm & White under white, pastel and light tone-on-tone tops; use Warm & Natural under everything else. Warm & Natural batting
Warm & White vs Hobbs bleached cotton with scrim: which white cotton?
Both are bleached or purified 100% cotton on a scrim, low loft, for light-colored quilts. Warm & White is the firmer, flatter batt and is rated for 10" stitch spacing; Hobbs is softer in the hand and should be quilted within 4". Choose Warm & White for wall hangings, white-on-white quilting with open areas, or anything that must stay square; choose Hobbs when drape matters more. Hobbs Bleached Heirloom Cotton with Scrim 96" roll
Will white batting make my quilt look different from natural?
Only under light fabrics, and that is the point. Under white, cream, pastel and low-volume tops, a cream batt with cotton flecks can show as a faint shadow or speckle; Warm & White keeps those fabrics looking clean. Under medium and dark fabrics you will not see a difference.
Can I use Warm & White for microwave bowl cozies?
No. Like Warm & Natural, it has a polypropylene scrim that can melt or scorch in the microwave. Use Pellon Wrap-N-Zap with cotton thread and fabric for anything microwaved. Pellon Wrap-N-Zap microwave-safe batting
Do you ship batting rolls to Alaska or Hawaii?
No. Rolls and boards ship only to the 48 contiguous states; orders from Alaska, Hawaii or outside the US are cancelled and refunded. Pre-cut packages ship to all locations. Shop packaged batting
