What is Warm Window used for?

Warm Window is the fabric of choice for making insulated Roman shades and curtains that dramatically reduce heat transfer through windows. It is popular with quilters who apply their sewing skills to home improvement projects.

How does Warm Window differ from standard curtain lining?

Standard curtain lining provides modest opacity and minimal insulation. Warm Window has multiple insulating layers including a reflective thermal barrier that significantly reduces both heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer. It is dramatically more effective than standard lining.

Can quilters use their sewing skills to make Warm Window shades?

Yes — Warm Window Roman shades are a natural project for quilters because they use standard sewing techniques. The fabric panels are made on a domestic sewing machine using basic straight seaming and hem techniques.

Is Warm Window also useful as a sewing room backing or insulating layer in quilting projects?

While primarily designed for window treatments, Warm Window’s insulating properties make it useful for any project requiring thermal insulation — such as insulated bags, cases for temperature-sensitive items, or home décor with thermal requirements.

How much fabric is needed for one window?

A standard 36" wide Roman shade typically uses 2–3 yards of Warm Window. The 15-yard roll provides enough for 5–7 standard windows, making it practical for whole-home window treatment projects.
