Description

Bosal Heat Moldable Double Sided Fusible Plus is a stiff, heat-moldable foam stabilizer that fuses to fabric on both sides. A few seconds of heat makes it soft and moldable; shape it, let it cool, and it holds the new shape. Use it for fabric bowls, boxes, kids' crafts and costumes, where you want curves and corners that stand up on their own.

Soften it with a hair dryer or a steam iron: 15 to 20 seconds on the lowest setting is enough. Because both sides fuse, you can cover it with fabric inside and out in one pressing session. This is one 20" x 36" piece; for a smaller trial piece, see the 9" x 12" size. If you want a moldable stabilizer you sew in rather than fuse, use the sew-in Heat Moldable.

Compare and choose

How do I mold it?
Heat it with a hair dryer or a steam iron on the lowest setting for 15 to 20 seconds until it softens, shape it by hand or over a form, and hold it until it cools. If a curve relaxes, reheat and reshape.
Double-sided fusible vs sew-in Heat Moldable: which do I want?
Both mold with heat. The double-sided fusible version bonds fabric to both faces with an iron, which is fastest for bowls and boxes covered inside and out. The sew-in version has no adhesive, so it suits hats, ribbons and handbags where you stitch it into a seam or need to keep heat off the fabric. Bosal Heat Moldable sew-in 20" x 36"
Heat Moldable vs Fast2Fuse or Craf-Tex Plus: what is the difference?
All three are stiff and fuse on both sides. Fast2Fuse and Craf-Tex Plus are heavyweight non-wovens that hold a flat or folded shape. Heat Moldable can be softened and reshaped into curves, which is why it is the choice for bowls and costume pieces with compound shapes. Craf-Tex Plus Double Sided Fusible 20" x 36"
Can I put a bowl made with this in the microwave?
No. It is a heat-moldable foam and it softens with heat, and fusible products are not microwave-safe. For microwave bowl cozies, use 100% cotton batting with cotton thread or Pellon Wrap-N-Zap.
Do I need a pressing cloth?
Use one when fusing fabric to it. It lets you press long enough to bond the adhesive without scorching the fabric or leaving residue on the iron. Keep the iron on the lowest setting that bonds; too much heat will soften the foam before you are ready to shape it.
