Description

Hobbs Heirloom 100% Natural Cotton with Scrim is for quilters who want a pure cotton batting with extra strength. Clean, long-staple, unbleached cotton is needle-punched into a very thin polyester scrim that stops the batting stretching or distorting on the frame. The 120" x 30 yard roll covers king tops in one piece and yields about nine king cuts. For queen and smaller, the 96" roll is the same batting at a lower price.

It is low-loft and soft, and gets softer with every wash. Because the cotton is unbleached it suits medium and dark fabrics best; for white tops use the bleached version.

Compare and choose

Do I need a 120" roll for a king quilt?
Yes, if you want the batting in one piece. King tops run 108" to 120" wide, so narrower rolls would have to be pieced. Compare the 96" cotton roll
100% cotton with scrim vs 80/20 at 120"?
Both come in 120". The cotton is flatter and firmer with a traditional hand; the 80/20 is softer with more drape and resists bearding. Both shrink 3-5% and quilt up to 4" apart. Hobbs 80/20 120" roll
Is 120" wide more than I need?
Pick a batting at least 4" wider than the shorter side of your quilt top. At 120" this roll covers every standard size, including king tops up to about 116" on the short side, in one piece. If you only quilt queen and smaller, the 96" roll of the same batting costs less per yard. Narrower roll of this batting
Do you ship batting rolls to Alaska or Hawaii?
No. Rolls and boards ship only to the 48 contiguous states; orders from Alaska, Hawaii or outside the US are cancelled and refunded. Pre-cut packages ship to all locations. Shop packaged batting
Do I need to pre-wash this batting?
No. Pre-washing is not recommended. Expect 3-5% shrinkage in the first wash, which gives the soft, crinkled finish most quilters want.
