Description

Pellon 810 Tru-Grid is a sew-in, non-woven pattern material printed with an accurate 1" graph. It is what you reach for to draft a pattern from scratch, copy a favorite pattern before you cut it up, grade a size up or down, or enlarge a craft design square by square. The 45" x 10 yard bolt holds enough for a season of garment and craft patterns.

Tru-Grid cuts, sews and gathers like real fabric, stays true to the straight of grain, is strong yet sheer, can be basted and can even be tried on, so you can fit a muslin without cutting one. It is 100% polyester and not fusible. If you need a plain tracing material without the grid, 830 Easy-Pattern is the companion product; for a fusible grid for piecing, see 820 Quilter's Grid.

Compare and choose

Tru-Grid 810 vs Easy-Pattern 830: which pattern material do I want?
Both are 45" x 10 yard sew-in non-wovens for tracing and drafting. Tru-Grid has a printed 1" graph, which is what you want for drafting from measurements, squaring up and enlarging designs. Easy-Pattern is plain, a little lighter, and is inkjet-printer safe, so it is the better choice for tracing commercial patterns and printing PDF pattern pieces. Pellon 830 Easy-Pattern 45" x 10 yd
Tru-Grid vs Quilter's Grid 820: are they the same?
No. Both are gridded non-wovens, but 820 Quilter's Grid is fusible and is used inside the quilt to hold cut squares for piecing. Tru-Grid is sew-in and is used as a pattern and fitting material, not as an interfacing that stays in the project. Pellon 820 Fusible Quilter's Grid
Can I actually try on a Tru-Grid pattern?
Yes. Pellon designs it to be basted and tried on, so you can check fit on a traced pattern before cutting into fashion fabric. It gathers and drapes like a light fabric, which a paper pattern cannot do.
Does the grid stay on grain?
Yes. Tru-Grid stays true to the straight of grain, so the printed lines are reliable for squaring blocks, drafting right angles and marking grainlines.
Can I use Tru-Grid as interfacing inside a garment?
It is not meant for that. It is a pattern and fitting material; for a sew-in interfacing use 910 Sew-In Featherweight or 40 Sew-In Midweight. Pellon 910 Sew-In Featherweight
