Extra Loft, Double Extra Loft or the standard scrim roll?

All three are Color Me Cotton 100% cotton in a 93" width. The standard roll has a scrim liner for stability; Extra Loft adds loft, and Double Extra Loft is the fullest of the three by name. Air Lite does not publish thickness figures, so if you need a measured loft, compare with Quilters Dream Supreme, their highest-loft cotton.

Air Lite cotton vs Hobbs Heirloom 100% Cotton with Scrim?

Both are 100% cotton with a scrim. Hobbs Heirloom has a low loft of about 1/8", shrinks 3-5% and should be quilted within 4", which gives a crinkled, antique look. Air Lite lists 1-2% shrinkage and up to 12" between stitches, so it suits open, widely spaced quilting and a flatter finish.

Do I need to pre-wash this batting?

No. It is completely washable and needs no pre-wash. Shrinkage is generally 1-2% or less, so the finished quilt stays close to its original size.

Do you ship batting rolls to Alaska or Hawaii?

No. Batting rolls ship only to the 48 contiguous states. If you are outside that area, pre-cut packages are the better option.

Color Me Cotton Extra Loft is Air Lite's 100% cotton batting with more loft than the line's standard roll, for quilters who want a fuller, warmer quilt in pure cotton. It is made only from domestically grown cotton, cleaned to remove the seed husks and sticks that cause oil marks and broken needles. It runs on longarm and short-arm machines, hand quilts easily, and can be stitched up to 12" apart. Air Lite does not publish a thickness measurement.

The 93" width covers tops up to about 89" on the narrow side with the usual 4" of extra batting, which handles twin and full quilts and yields a standard 90" x 108" queen cut. One 20-yard roll makes roughly 6 queen cuts. For wider tops and kings, use the 122" Color Me Cotton 100% cotton with scrim roll, since the extra-loft batting is not made in that width.

Like the rest of the Color Me Cotton line, it is completely washable, needs no pre-wash, and shrinkage is generally 1-2% or less. The line is made for uniform coverage, with no thick and thin spots and no loose fibers that migrate or beard.
