Description

The 90" x 25 yard roll is the production format of Warm & Plush, the heaviest 100% cotton batting The Warm Company makes. It covers queen tops and smaller in one piece and yields about eight queen cuts, so it suits longarmers whose customers ask for a warm, substantial cotton quilt. For small projects the 45" roll or 22" roll wastes less; there is no king-width Warm & Plush roll.

Warm & Plush is 100% extra-clean needled cotton with no scrim and about 50% more cotton than Warm & Natural. On the frame it loads soft and full rather than flat and firm, and the finished quilt is heavier, warmer and drapes beautifully. It handles machine quilting, free-motion, stitch-in-the-ditch and tying, and its balanced tension suits floating frames. With no scrim, quilt within 6" and do not use basting spray; the cotton grips the top and backing on its own.

No pre-washing needed. Finished quilts machine wash and dry with about 3% to 5% shrinkage on the first wash; cold water keeps it at the low end.

Compare and choose

Is 90" wide enough for a queen, and what about kings?
A standard queen (about 90" x 108") fits with the 108" along the roll and no spare width. There is no wider Warm & Plush roll, so for king tops you would piece two lengths, or switch to a king-width cotton such as Warm & Natural 124" or Quilters Dream Deluxe 120". Warm & Natural 124" x 30 yd roll
Warm & Plush vs Hobbs Heirloom cotton with scrim for a bed quilt?
Hobbs Heirloom cotton is a low-loft, scrim-supported cotton: flat, traditional, 4" stitch spacing. Warm & Plush is scrim-free with about half again as much cotton, so the quilt is thicker, warmer and heavier. For a crisp, flat heirloom look, Hobbs; for a cozy winter quilt, Warm & Plush. Hobbs Heirloom 100% Cotton with Scrim 96" roll
Warm & Plush vs Warm & Natural: which should I buy?
Warm & Plush has about 50% more cotton than Warm & Natural and no scrim, so it is noticeably thicker, heavier, warmer and softer, with more drape. The trade-off is stability: without a scrim it must be quilted within 6" instead of 10", and basting spray is not recommended because repositioning can pull the fibers apart. Choose Warm & Plush for a cozy bed quilt or throw; choose Warm & Natural for wall hangings, tied quilts and anything that must stay flat. Warm & Natural batting
Warm & Plush vs Quilters Dream Deluxe or Supreme cotton: which heavy cotton?
All three are scrim-free, needle-punched 100% cotton in a heavier weight than standard cotton batting. Quilters Dream Deluxe is their mid-heavy loft and Supreme their heaviest; Warm & Plush sits in that range and is the thickest cotton The Warm Company makes. Dream Deluxe and Supreme are rated to 8" stitch spacing, Warm & Plush to 6". Any of them gives a substantial, warm cotton quilt; pick by the width and format you need. Can I use basting spray with Warm & Plush?
The manufacturer says no. With no scrim to hold the fibers, pulling spray-basted fabric back up to reposition it can tear cotton out of the batt. Pin baste, thread baste, or load it on a frame instead. The cotton fibers grip the top and backing on their own, which helps.
How close do I have to quilt Warm & Plush?
Within 6" between lines or ties. That is closer than Warm & Natural's 10" because there is no scrim. Stitch-in-the-ditch, free-motion and tied quilts all work, and it behaves well on a floating frame.
Is Warm & Plush microwave safe for bowl cozies?
It is 100% cotton with no scrim and no polyester, so it has nothing in it that melts. Still, Pellon Wrap-N-Zap is the batting made and tested for microwave use and is what we recommend for cozies and potato bags, with cotton thread and cotton fabric. If you use Warm & Plush, keep heating times short and never microwave it with synthetic thread or fabric. Pellon Wrap-N-Zap microwave-safe batting
Do you ship batting rolls to Alaska or Hawaii?
No. Rolls and boards ship only to the 48 contiguous states; orders from Alaska, Hawaii or outside the US are cancelled and refunded. Pre-cut packages ship to all locations. Shop packaged batting
