Description
Warm & Plush packages come in two sizes, Baby 45" x 60" and Queen 90" x 108", and they are the batting to choose when someone asks for a cotton quilt that is warmer and more substantial than usual. The queen covers a full-size top as well. Packages ship anywhere; for several quilts the 90" roll or a full case costs less per quilt.
Warm & Plush is 100% super-clean natural cotton, needle-punched, with no scrim and about 50% more cotton than Warm & Natural. The result is a fuller, heavier, warmer batt that still stays soft and pliable and drapes well. It suits stitch-in-the-ditch, free-motion and tied quilts and its balanced tension works on floating frames. Because there is no scrim, quilt within 6" and skip the basting spray: the cotton fibers grip the top and backing on their own, and repositioning sprayed fabric can pull them apart. No resins or glues.
No pre-washing needed. Machine wash and dry the finished quilt; expect about 3% to 5% shrinkage on the first wash, less in cold water.

Compare and choose
- Only baby and queen: what do I buy for a twin or king?
- For a twin, buy the queen package and trim; it is the same batting and you keep the offcut for runners. For a king, Warm & Plush does not come wider than 90", so either piece two queen batts or choose a king-width cotton such as Warm & Natural's 124" x 120" king package. Warm & Natural packages (king 124" x 120")
- Is Warm & Plush good for a baby quilt?
- Yes, if you want a soft, cuddly, slightly weighty quilt; it is 100% cotton with no scrim or polyester. It is thicker than Warm & Natural, so for a lightweight summer baby quilt Warm & Natural is the lighter choice.
- Warm & Plush vs Warm & Natural: which should I buy?
- Warm & Plush has about 50% more cotton than Warm & Natural and no scrim, so it is noticeably thicker, heavier, warmer and softer, with more drape. The trade-off is stability: without a scrim it must be quilted within 6" instead of 10", and basting spray is not recommended because repositioning can pull the fibers apart. Choose Warm & Plush for a cozy bed quilt or throw; choose Warm & Natural for wall hangings, tied quilts and anything that must stay flat. Warm & Natural batting
- Warm & Plush vs Quilters Dream Deluxe or Supreme cotton: which heavy cotton?
- All three are scrim-free, needle-punched 100% cotton in a heavier weight than standard cotton batting. Quilters Dream Deluxe is their mid-heavy loft and Supreme their heaviest; Warm & Plush sits in that range and is the thickest cotton The Warm Company makes. Dream Deluxe and Supreme are rated to 8" stitch spacing, Warm & Plush to 6". Any of them gives a substantial, warm cotton quilt; pick by the width and format you need. - Can I use basting spray with Warm & Plush?
- The manufacturer says no. With no scrim to hold the fibers, pulling spray-basted fabric back up to reposition it can tear cotton out of the batt. Pin baste, thread baste, or load it on a frame instead. The cotton fibers grip the top and backing on their own, which helps.
- How close do I have to quilt Warm & Plush?
- Within 6" between lines or ties. That is closer than Warm & Natural's 10" because there is no scrim. Stitch-in-the-ditch, free-motion and tied quilts all work, and it behaves well on a floating frame.
- Is Warm & Plush microwave safe for bowl cozies?
- It is 100% cotton with no scrim and no polyester, so it has nothing in it that melts. Still, Pellon Wrap-N-Zap is the batting made and tested for microwave use and is what we recommend for cozies and potato bags, with cotton thread and cotton fabric. If you use Warm & Plush, keep heating times short and never microwave it with synthetic thread or fabric. Pellon Wrap-N-Zap microwave-safe batting
