Description

Warm 100 in a pre-cut package, sized for one quilt: twin 72" x 90", full 90" x 96", queen 90" x 110" or king 124" x 120". It is the all-cotton version of Warm & Natural: 100% natural cotton fibers needle-punched into a 100% cotton scrim, with no polyester and no resins or glues. The cotton is mechanically cleaned, so it is free of seeds and plant matter and has no chemical smell.

It is a low-loft, breathable batting that quilts well by hand and by machine. Top and backing cling to it, the needle-punched construction keeps it from separating, bunching, shifting or bearding, and you can quilt or tie up to 10" apart. No pre-washing is needed; expect about 3% shrinkage in the first wash for a subtle, traditional crinkle. Packages ship anywhere.

Note the queen package is 90" x 110", slightly longer than the usual 90" x 108". If you quilt in volume, the same batting comes on a 110" x 25-yard bolt and in full cases.

Compare and choose

Warm 100 vs Warm & Natural: which should I buy?
Both are needle-punched cotton battings from The Warm Company that can be quilted up to 10" apart and shrink about 3%. The difference is the scrim. Warm & Natural punches cotton through a thin polyester scrim; Warm 100 punches cotton into a 100% cotton scrim, so fiber and scrim are both cotton. Choose Warm 100 if you want an all-cotton batting with no synthetic layer; choose Warm & Natural for the familiar standard at a lower price per yard. Warm & Natural batting package
Warm 100 vs Hobbs Heirloom 100% Cotton package?
Both are 100% cotton with a scrim, low loft, and quilt-anywhere-friendly. Hobbs Heirloom Cotton with Scrim is lightly resin-bonded and should be quilted within about 4"; Warm 100 has no resins or glues, uses a cotton scrim rather than a synthetic one, and can be quilted or tied up to 10" apart. Hobbs is a touch softer; Warm 100 is the firmer, flatter, all-cotton choice. Hobbs Heirloom 100% Cotton batting package
Which package size do I need?
Pick a batting at least 4" larger than your quilt top in both directions. Twin 72" x 90" covers tops to about 68" x 86"; full 90" x 96" to about 86" x 92"; queen 90" x 110" to about 86" x 106"; king 124" x 120" to about 120" x 116". When in doubt, size up; you can always trim.
Does Warm 100 shrink, and should I pre-wash?
No pre-washing needed; quilt it straight from the package or bolt. Expect about 3% shrinkage in the first wash, which gives a subtle, traditional crinkle. If you prefer no crinkle, pre-wash by hand: mild detergent, soak about 20 minutes, rinse, squeeze without wringing, and dry warm or flat. Wash the finished quilt in cold water to keep shrinkage down.
Is Warm 100 good for hand quilting?
Yes. It is low loft with no resin, so the needle passes easily, and the cotton scrim keeps it stable in a hoop. Hand quilters who find Warm & Natural a little firm often prefer Warm 100 or Warm & Plush. Warm & Plush batting package
Can I use Warm 100 for microwave bowl cozies?
Use Pellon Wrap-N-Zap for anything that goes in a microwave; it is the only batting we sell for that purpose. Warm 100 is all cotton, but it is a quilt batting, not a product The Warm Company sells for microwave use, so we do not recommend it for bowl cozies. Pellon Wrap-N-Zap 45" x 1 yd package
How far apart can I quilt it?
Up to 10" between quilting lines or ties, so open designs, tied quilts and minimal modern quilting are all fine.
