Description

Warm 100 by the case, for shops, longarm studios, guilds and charity programs that want an all-cotton batting in volume. Each case holds one pre-cut size: 18 baby (55" x 60"), 8 twin (72" x 90"), 6 full (90" x 96"), 5 queen (90" x 110") or 4 king (124" x 120"). Warm 100 is 100% natural cotton fibers needle-punched into a 100% cotton scrim, with no polyester and no resins or glues; the cotton is mechanically cleaned, so there are no seeds, plant bits or chemical smell.

It is a low-loft, breathable cotton that hand and machine quilts well. Top and backing cling to it, the needle-punched construction resists separating, bunching, shifting and bearding, and it can be quilted or tied up to 10" apart. No pre-washing is needed; expect roughly 3% shrinkage in the first wash. Wash finished quilts cold.

For single quilts, see the Warm 100 packages; for continuous yardage, the 110" x 25-yard bolt.

Compare and choose

Warm 100 case vs Warm & Natural case: which cotton?
Both are needle-punched cotton battings from The Warm Company that can be quilted up to 10" apart and shrink about 3%. The difference is the scrim. Warm & Natural punches cotton through a thin polyester scrim; Warm 100 punches cotton into a 100% cotton scrim, so fiber and scrim are both cotton. Choose Warm 100 if you want an all-cotton batting with no synthetic layer; choose Warm & Natural for the familiar standard at a lower price per yard. Warm & Natural full case
Case or bolt for a studio?
A case gives pre-cut batts in one size with no cutting and no waste, which suits shops, guild programs and anyone who makes the same size repeatedly. The 110" bolt gives continuous yardage for mixed sizes on a longarm. If most of your quilts are one size, the case in that size is the simpler buy. Warm 100 110" x 25 yd bolt
Warm 100 vs Hobbs Heirloom 100% Cotton?
Both are 100% cotton with a scrim, low loft, and quilt-anywhere-friendly. Hobbs Heirloom Cotton with Scrim is lightly resin-bonded and should be quilted within about 4"; Warm 100 has no resins or glues, uses a cotton scrim rather than a synthetic one, and can be quilted or tied up to 10" apart. Hobbs is a touch softer; Warm 100 is the firmer, flatter, all-cotton choice. Hobbs Heirloom 100% Cotton batting package
Does Warm 100 shrink, and should I pre-wash?
No pre-washing needed; quilt it straight from the package or bolt. Expect about 3% shrinkage in the first wash, which gives a subtle, traditional crinkle. If you prefer no crinkle, pre-wash by hand: mild detergent, soak about 20 minutes, rinse, squeeze without wringing, and dry warm or flat. Wash the finished quilt in cold water to keep shrinkage down.
How far apart can I quilt or tie it?
Up to 10" between lines or ties. For charity and tied quilts that is the number that matters: wide spacing without the batting shifting.
Is Warm 100 microwave safe?
Use Pellon Wrap-N-Zap for anything that goes in a microwave; it is the only batting we sell for that purpose. Warm 100 is all cotton, but it is a quilt batting, not a product The Warm Company sells for microwave use, so we do not recommend it for bowl cozies. Pellon Wrap-N-Zap 45" x 1 yd package
