Description
This 45" x 10 yard roll is the small-batch way to buy Warm & Plush: enough for about six baby quilts, or a long run of runners, placemats, bags and accessories, without committing to the 90" x 25 yd roll. Anything wider than a crib quilt needs piecing at this width, so for throws and bed quilts buy the 90" roll.
Warm & Plush is The Warm Company's heaviest cotton: 100% extra-clean needled cotton with no scrim and about 50% more cotton than Warm & Natural. It is fuller, heavier and warmer, soft and pliable with a natural drape, and it works for machine quilting, free-motion, stitch-in-the-ditch and tied quilts. Because there is no scrim, quilt within 6" and skip the basting spray; pin or thread baste instead.
No pre-washing needed. Finished quilts machine wash and dry, with about 3% to 5% shrinkage on the first wash. Cold water keeps it at the low end.

Compare and choose
- Is a 45" roll wide enough for a quilt?
- For baby and crib quilts (45" x 60") yes, in one piece. Throws, twins and anything larger are wider than 45" and would need two lengths joined, so buy the 90" roll for those. Warm & Plush 90" x 25 yd roll
- 45" roll or the Baby package?
- One baby quilt: the Baby package (45" x 60"). Several baby quilts, or baby quilts plus runners and bags: the 10-yard roll is cheaper per project and you cut what each needs. Warm & Plush pre-cut packages
- Warm & Plush vs Warm & Natural: which should I buy?
- Warm & Plush has about 50% more cotton than Warm & Natural and no scrim, so it is noticeably thicker, heavier, warmer and softer, with more drape. The trade-off is stability: without a scrim it must be quilted within 6" instead of 10", and basting spray is not recommended because repositioning can pull the fibers apart. Choose Warm & Plush for a cozy bed quilt or throw; choose Warm & Natural for wall hangings, tied quilts and anything that must stay flat. Warm & Natural batting
- Warm & Plush vs Quilters Dream Deluxe or Supreme cotton: which heavy cotton?
- All three are scrim-free, needle-punched 100% cotton in a heavier weight than standard cotton batting. Quilters Dream Deluxe is their mid-heavy loft and Supreme their heaviest; Warm & Plush sits in that range and is the thickest cotton The Warm Company makes. Dream Deluxe and Supreme are rated to 8" stitch spacing, Warm & Plush to 6". Any of them gives a substantial, warm cotton quilt; pick by the width and format you need. Quilters Dream Deluxe Natural Cotton package
- Can I use basting spray with Warm & Plush?
- The manufacturer says no. With no scrim to hold the fibers, pulling spray-basted fabric back up to reposition it can tear cotton out of the batt. Pin baste, thread baste, or load it on a frame instead. The cotton fibers grip the top and backing on their own, which helps.
- How close do I have to quilt Warm & Plush?
- Within 6" between lines or ties. That is closer than Warm & Natural's 10" because there is no scrim. Stitch-in-the-ditch, free-motion and tied quilts all work, and it behaves well on a floating frame.
- Is Warm & Plush microwave safe for bowl cozies?
- It is 100% cotton with no scrim and no polyester, so it has nothing in it that melts. Still, Pellon Wrap-N-Zap is the batting made and tested for microwave use and is what we recommend for cozies and potato bags, with cotton thread and cotton fabric. If you use Warm & Plush, keep heating times short and never microwave it with synthetic thread or fabric. Pellon Wrap-N-Zap microwave-safe batting
- Do you ship batting rolls to Alaska or Hawaii?
- No. Rolls and boards ship only to the 48 contiguous states; orders from Alaska, Hawaii or outside the US are cancelled and refunded. Pre-cut packages ship to all locations. Shop packaged batting
