Description
Lite Steam-A-Seam 2 from Warm Company is a lightweight, double-stick fusible web for appliqué, collage and landscape quilts. Both sides are temporarily tacky, so you can stick a shape in place, lift and reposition it, then press to make the bond permanent. This package is 12" x 3 yards, a good size for a first project.
Lite is the softer version of Steam-A-Seam 2. It leaves less adhesive in the fabric, so appliqué stays more flexible, drapes better and is easier to quilt and stitch through, which suits lightweight and quilting cottons and projects with many layered pieces. For heavier fabrics or when you want the strongest hold, use regular Steam-A-Seam 2 12".
Finished projects can be machine washed and dried or dry-cleaned.

Compare and choose
- Lite Steam-A-Seam 2 vs regular Steam-A-Seam 2: which do I need?
- Both are double-stick, repositionable and permanent after pressing. Lite has less adhesive, so appliqué stays softer and is easier to stitch and quilt through; it is the usual choice for quilting cottons and layered designs. Regular Steam-A-Seam 2 holds harder and suits heavier fabrics and pieces you will not stitch around. Steam-A-Seam 2 12" x 3 yd
- How do I use Lite Steam-A-Seam 2?
- Peel one paper and trace your shape on the remaining paper, or trace on the paper and then peel. Stick the exposed web to the wrong side of the fabric, cut out the shape, peel the second paper, and finger-press the shape onto the background where you want it. Lift and reposition as needed, then press with a hot steam iron following the package directions to make the bond permanent.
- Lite Steam-A-Seam 2 vs Wonder-Under or Mistyfuse: what is the difference?
- Pellon 805 Wonder-Under is a single-paper fusible web that does not stick until you press it. Mistyfuse is a sheer, paper-free web for a very soft hand. Lite Steam-A-Seam 2 is the one that sticks before pressing, so you can audition a layout and move pieces around, which is why collage and landscape quilters like it. Pellon 805 Wonder-Under 17" x 10 yd
- Which width should I buy?
- Buy the width that fits your largest shape. The 12" package suits small appliqué pieces; the 18" and 24" packages are for larger motifs and backgrounds in landscape and collage quilts. All three are 3 yards long. Lite 24" x 3 yd
- Can I quilt through Lite Steam-A-Seam 2?
- Yes. Lite leaves less adhesive in the fabric than regular Steam-A-Seam 2, so it is easier to stitch around edges and to quilt through by machine or hand.
- Is the bond washable?
- Yes. Once pressed, the bond is permanent, and finished projects can be machine washed and dried or dry-cleaned.
