Description
Pellon 371 Fuse-N-Tear is an iron-on tear-away stabilizer: press it to the back of the fabric, hoop, stitch, and tear the excess away with no sticky residue. Fusing first stops the sliding, puckering and shifting that happens when lightweight or slippery wovens are hooped on their own. It is 70% polyester and 30% rayon, and you can fuse more than one layer when a dense design needs extra support.
It is for machine and hand embroidery on stable woven fabrics, and it is just as useful for fabric stamping, decorative borders, buttonholes and appliqué. The 20" x 10 yard bolt is the efficient size for 6" x 10" and 8" x 12" hoops and for anyone who embroiders every week; the 12" x 12 yard package is the smaller commitment for 4" x 4" and 5" x 7" hoops. For knits and stretch fabrics use a cut-away that stays in, such as Pellon 380 Soft-N-Stay.

Cuts are the hoop size plus about 2" each way, laid along the 10-yard length at the 20" width and turned where that fits more. Counts are approximate and assume no waste.

- Both tear away after stitching and both are for woven fabrics. Fuse-N-Tear is pressed on first, so the fabric cannot creep in the hoop and you can stack a second layer for dense designs. - Package or bolt: which Fuse-N-Tear size should I buy?
- The 12" x 12 yard package covers 4" x 4" and 5" x 7" hoops with little waste and stores easily. The 20" x 10 yard bolt is the better value for 6" x 10" and 8" x 12" hoops, or if you embroider often. The stabilizer is identical. Pellon 371 12" x 12 yard package
- Can I use two layers of Fuse-N-Tear?
- Yes. Pellon designs it to be layered: fuse one layer to the fabric and float or fuse a second under it for dense fills or lettering. Tear each layer away separately to keep stress off the stitches.
- Does it leave residue on the fabric?
- No. The fusible bond releases when you tear the excess away and leaves no sticky residue on the back of the fabric. Tear gently in the direction of the stitching on fine details.
- Is Fuse-N-Tear right for t-shirts and knits?
- No. Any tear-away, fusible or not, is removed after stitching, and a knit then has nothing holding the design stable through wear and washing. Use a cut-away such as Pellon 380 Soft-N-Stay or a fusible that stays in such as 333 Ultra Weave for knits. Pellon 333 Ultra Weave fusible
