Description

Ultra Clean and Tear Fusible is an iron-on, medium weight tear-away stabilizer from OESD for woven fabrics. Fusing it to the back of the fabric holds the weave steady while you hoop and stitch, and it supports medium to high stitch count designs. Afterward it tears away cleanly, so the embroidery looks finished on both the front and the back.

The 20" width is the one for large hoops and multi-hooped designs on bigger pieces. If you would rather hoop without fusing, the plain Ultra Clean and Tear is the same weight.

~54 6" x 10" hoop cuts

Cuts are the hoop size plus about 2" each way, laid along the 10-yard length at the 20" width and turned where that fits more. Counts are approximate and assume no waste.

Compare and choose

Fusible or non-fusible Ultra Clean and Tear?
Choose the fusible version when the fabric slips or puckers in the hoop, when you are multi-hooping a large design, or when the back of the work will be seen. Choose plain Ultra Clean and Tear for everyday hooping of stable wovens. Ultra Clean and Tear 15" (non-fusible)
Which side is fusible?
One side carries the adhesive coating. Place that side against the wrong side of the fabric and press following the package directions, then hoop the fused fabric. Test on a scrap if the fabric is heat sensitive.
Can I use it on knits?
It is made for woven fabrics. On knits, a tear-away leaves no support after removal, so use a fusible cut-away mesh such as PolyMesh Fusible. PolyMesh Fusible 15" x 10 yd
How does it compare to Sulky Totally Stable or Pellon Fuse-N-Tear?
All three are iron-on tear-aways. Ultra Clean and Tear Fusible is a medium weight for medium to high stitch counts; Totally Stable is lighter and aimed at knits and stretchy fabrics; Pellon 371 Fuse-N-Tear comes on a 20" bolt as well as a package. Sulky Totally Stable 12" x 12 yd
Tear-away, cut-away or wash-away: which stabilizer do I need?
Tear-away is for stable woven fabrics where no backing should stay behind: it supports the stitching, then tears off. Cut-away stays in the project permanently and is the right choice for knits, sweatshirts and anything that stretches. Wash-away dissolves in water and is for freestanding lace, sheers and projects where no trace of stabilizer can remain. See a wash-away option
