Description

Pellon Natural Cotton with Scrim is the everyday low-loft cotton batting in our Pellon line, and the 90" x 6 yard bolt is the in-between format: 216" of 90"-wide batting, two queen cuts or three twins, for quilters who have a few quilts planned but do not want a 40 yard roll in the sewing room.

The batt is 93% cotton needle-punched through a 7% polypropylene scrim. The scrim is the point: it keeps the thin cotton from stretching or tearing on a frame and lets you quilt up to 10" apart, where a scrimless cotton needs lines every 3" to 4". Loft is 1/16" for a flat, traditional look, shrinkage is 3-5% in the first wash for a soft crinkle, and it washes by hand or machine and dry cleans. The natural color is an unbleached cream; under white fabric use the white version.

Rolls and bolts ship only to the 48 contiguous states.

Compare and choose

How many quilts does the 6 yard bolt make?
At 90" x 216": two queen cuts (90" x 108"), two full cuts, three twin cuts with the 90" side across the bolt, or three throws. For a king you need the 120" x 120" package. Pellon Natural Cotton king package
Bolt, package or the 40 yard roll?
One quilt: the package in your size, which ships anywhere. Two to three quilts: this bolt. A longarm business or a guild: the 40 yard roll, which is the lowest cost per yard. Bolts and rolls ship only to the 48 contiguous states. Pellon Natural Cotton 90" x 40 yard roll
Pellon cotton bolt vs Warm & Natural 90" x 20 yard bolt?
Same construction, needle-punched cotton over a scrim with 10" stitch spacing and 3-5% shrinkage. Warm & Natural is slightly denser; the 20 yard bolt is three times the length of this one. Buy Pellon for the smaller commitment; buy Warm & Natural if you want the longer bolt. Warm & Natural 90" x 20 yard bolt
Is 90" wide enough for a queen?
For tops up to about 86" across, yes, with the 108" length along the bolt. Wider queens and kings need 120" of width.
Do I need to pre-wash this batting?
No. Expect 3-5% shrinkage in the first wash of the finished quilt, which gives the soft, crinkled finish most quilters are after.
Do you ship bolts to Alaska or Hawaii?
No. Rolls and bolts ship only to the 48 contiguous states. The packages of this batting ship to all locations. Shop packaged batting
