Description
Quilters Dream Select Natural Cotton is 100% cotton with nothing added: no scrim, no resin, no glue. The cotton is mechanically cleaned rather than chemically processed, then carded, crosslapped and needle-punched, which is why it stays consistent across the roll and lets a needle glide through. Select is the mid loft in the Dream Cotton line, lighter than Deluxe and Supreme, heavier than Request, and it is the one most of our customers reach for first.
Each roll is 93" wide by 30 yards. A queen top (about 90" x 108") fits with the 108" running along the roll, so the roll covers queen and everything smaller: full, twin, throw and crib. King tops need the 120" roll.
It quilts well by hand and by machine, drapes softly, and can be stitched as closely as you like or up to 8" apart. Shrinkage is minimal and Quilters Dream does not recommend pre-washing. Because there is no scrim or polyester, it is also the cotton batting we recommend for microwave projects when used with cotton fabric and cotton thread.

- Both are needle-punched 100% cotton, but Warm & Natural has a scrim and can be quilted up to 10" apart, which makes it firmer and flatter. Dream Select Cotton has no scrim, so it is softer with more drape, needles more easily by hand, and should be quilted within 8". - Request, Select, Deluxe or Supreme: which Dream Cotton loft do I need?
- Request is the thinnest and lightest, Select (this roll) is the mid loft, Deluxe is heavier, and Supreme is the heaviest and densest. - Will the 93" roll cover a king quilt?
- Not in one piece. A king top runs 108" to 120" wide, so it does not fit across a 93" roll. The 93" roll covers queen (about 90" x 108", with the 108" running along the roll) and everything smaller. For king tops use the 120" roll. 120" roll
- Natural or white cotton: which do I need?
- Natural (this roll) is unbleached and looks right under most fabrics. Under white or very pale tops, unbleached cotton can shadow through, so use the Select White Cotton roll for white and pastel quilts. Select White Cotton 93" roll
- Do I need to pre-wash Dream Cotton?
- No. Quilters Dream does not recommend pre-washing. The cotton is exceptionally clean and shrinkage is minimal, so you get only a light crinkle after the first wash rather than the 3-5% you see with some cotton battings.
- Is this batting microwave-safe for bowl cozies and hot pads?
- Yes, with the usual caveats. Dream Select Cotton is 100% cotton with no scrim, resin or polyester, so it can go in the microwave when the project is made entirely of cotton fabric and cotton thread. Polyester, blends, wool and fusible battings are not microwave-safe.
- How far apart can I quilt it?
- Up to 8" apart. The needle-punched construction holds the fibers together without a scrim, so dense custom quilting and open pantographs both work.
- Do you ship batting rolls to Alaska or Hawaii?
- No. Rolls and boards ship only to the 48 contiguous states; orders from Alaska, Hawaii or outside the US are cancelled and refunded. Pre-cut packages ship to all locations. Shop packaged batting
