Soft Woven Fusible vs Pellon SF101: what is the difference?

Both are lightweight woven fusibles. SF101 is the 100% cotton woven most bag and quilt patterns name, and we stock it in 20" and 60" widths. This soft woven is 22" wide on a 5-yard pack and is aimed at lightweight fabrics, appliqué and embroidery backing. If a pattern specifies SF101, use it.

Can I use it as an embroidery stabilizer?

For light embroidery and machine appliqué on lightweight fabric, yes: fused to the back it keeps the fabric from stretching and puckering. For dense designs, add a tear-away or cut-away stabilizer underneath while you stitch.

Will it stop seam allowances showing through white fabric?

It helps. Fused behind a light fabric, it adds a layer that blocks shadowing from darker seam allowances and appliqué pieces underneath.

Woven or non-woven fusible: which should I use?

Woven has a grain and drapes like fabric, so it stays soft on garments and quilting cotton. Non-woven cuts in any direction and is quick for small, flat pieces, but tends to feel papery on large panels. For soft support, choose woven.

Is it good for t-shirt quilts?

A lightweight woven fusible is the usual choice for stabilizing knit t-shirt panels, but a 60" wide product is easier for cutting large shirt blocks. EZ-TEE is pre-cut for exactly that job.

Soft Woven Fusible Interfacing is a light, woven fusible for lightweight fabrics. It gives flexible support without stiffness, so the fabric keeps its hand and drape. The fusible adhesive irons straight onto the fabric, so there is no basting or pinning. This pack is 22" wide by 5 yards, enough for several garments or a run of appliqué and embroidery projects.

As a backing it adds stability for machine appliqué and embroidery and helps stop darker fabrics or seam allowances from showing through light-colored fabric. Because it is woven, it moves like fabric: a good choice for blouses, soft collars, quilted garments and anywhere a non-woven would feel papery.
