Description

OESD StabilStick TearAway is a medium-weight tear-away embroidery stabilizer with a light adhesive coating. Hoop the stabilizer, expose the adhesive, and press the fabric onto it, so items that are hard to hoop, such as collars and napkin corners, stay flat and in place without hoop marks.

It is for tightly woven and slippery fabrics that do not stretch, and it is ideal for projects that need several hoopings, since the fabric can be lifted and repositioned. After stitching, the excess tears away. The 10" x 10 yard roll fits 4" x 4" and 5" x 7" hoops with little waste.

Compare and choose

StabilStick TearAway vs CutAway: which do I need?
TearAway is for stable wovens that do not stretch; it comes off after stitching. CutAway is for knits and stretch fabrics; it stays in and keeps supporting the design. If the fabric stretches when you pull it, use CutAway. StabilStick CutAway 10"
How do I hoop a sticky tear-away?
Hoop the stabilizer alone with the paper side up, score the paper inside the hoop with a pin, peel it away and press the fabric onto the adhesive. Smooth from the center out. For a second position, lift the fabric and press it down again in the new spot.
What is the difference between StabilStick and Sulky Sticky+ or Pellon Stick-N-Tear?
All three are adhesive tear-aways for items you cannot hoop. StabilStick is medium weight and comes in 10", 15" and 20" rolls; Sulky Sticky+ is lightweight in 8 1/4" and 12" rolls; Pellon 841 Stick-N-Tear comes as a 12" package or a 20" bolt. Pick by weight and width. Sulky Sticky+ 12" x 6 yd
Will the adhesive leave residue?
The coating is light and designed to release when you tear the stabilizer away. Tear gently, supporting the stitches with your thumb, and remove small bits with tweezers.
Which roll size should I buy?
Choose a width at least 2" larger than your hoop on each side. The 10" x 10 yard roll fits 4" x 4" and 5" x 7" hoops with little waste.
