Description
BadgeMaster is OESD's white non-woven wash-away stabilizer. It goes in the hoop as the backing, holds the design while it stitches, and then dissolves in water so no stabilizer remains. Use it for freestanding lace and for embroidery on sheer, lightweight and fine fabrics where any leftover backing would show.
The 12" x 8 yard roll covers 4" x 4" through 6" x 10" hoops, and an 8" x 12" hoop when the cut is turned. If you need a wider roll or a mesh, AquaMesh comes in 10", 15" and 20" widths; for hard-to-hoop items, the adhesive-coated AquaMesh Plus is the one to reach for.

Cuts are the hoop size plus about 2" each way, laid along the 8-yard length at the 12" width and turned where that fits more. Counts are approximate and assume no waste.
Compare and choose
- BadgeMaster vs AquaMesh: what is the difference?
- Both are OESD wash-aways that rinse out completely, and both work for freestanding lace and sheer fabrics. BadgeMaster is a white non-woven on a 12" x 8 yard roll. AquaMesh is an opaque mesh on 10-yard rolls in 10", 15" and 20" widths. If 12" fits your hoop, either will do the job; choose AquaMesh when you want a wider roll. AquaMesh 15" x 10 yd
- Is BadgeMaster the same as a wash-away topper?
- No. A topper is a thin film laid over napped fabric such as towels so stitches do not sink. BadgeMaster is a backing: it goes under the work in the hoop and carries the stitches. For a topper, use a clear film such as Sulky Solvy or a wash-away topping. Kimberbell Wash-Away Topping 12"
- How do I remove BadgeMaster after stitching?
- Trim the excess outside the design, then rinse or soak in water until the stabilizer is gone. For freestanding lace, rinse until the lace no longer feels stiff, then pin it flat to dry.
- BadgeMaster vs Sulky Ultra Solvy: which for freestanding lace?
- Both are made to be stitched through and dissolved completely. Sulky Ultra Solvy is sold as an extremely firm water-soluble film, so it suits stitchers who want a stiffer base under heavy lace; BadgeMaster is OESD's non-woven option. Either way, test your design on a scrap and add a second layer if the stitching perforates the stabilizer. Sulky Ultra Solvy 12" x 8 yd
- Will a 12" width fit my hoop?
- Yes for 4" x 4", 5" x 7" and 6" x 10" hoops, with margin to clamp. An 8" x 12" hoop fits when you turn the cut so the 12" runs along the hoop length. For larger hoops, choose the 15" or 20" AquaMesh. AquaMesh 20" x 10 yd
