Description

Hobbs Polydown is made from very fine denier polyester, which gives it a soft hand and a drape closer to a natural fiber than standard poly. It is bonded to resist bearding and migration, washes and dries by machine, keeps its loft and is non-allergenic. The 108" x 30 yard roll does not shrink.

Hand quilters like how it needles; machine quilters like the way its loft accentuates quilting detail. Expect it to arrive compressed; let it relax a few days before use.

Compare and choose

Polydown vs Hobbs 6oz polyester?
Polydown uses a finer fiber for a softer, more drapey hand at similar loft, and comes in 108" and 120". The 6oz is a standard polyester in 96" at a lower price. Hobbs 6oz polyester 96" roll
Polydown vs wool?
Both are lofty and light. Wool breathes and has a springier, warmer natural hand but shrinks a little and costs more; Polydown does not shrink, is non-allergenic and is less expensive. Hobbs Heirloom Wool 108" roll
96" vs 108" vs 120": which width for my quilt?
Pick a batting at least 4" wider than the shorter side of your quilt top. A 108" roll covers queen tops (about 90" x 108") with room to spare and oversized queens, but a true king (108" to 120" wide) does not fit in one piece; for king, use a 120" roll. 120" roll
Do you ship batting rolls to Alaska or Hawaii?
No. Rolls and boards ship only to the 48 contiguous states; orders from Alaska, Hawaii or outside the US are cancelled and refunded. Pre-cut packages ship to all locations. Shop packaged batting
Do I need to pre-wash this batting?
No. Polyester does not shrink, so the finished quilt keeps its size and shape. Pre-washing is not recommended for any Hobbs batting.
