Description

Pellon 911FF Fusible Featherweight is the light, iron-on non-woven interfacing most sewists keep by the bolt. It gives light to mid-weight wovens and knits such as challis, chambray, jersey, broadcloth and linen a touch of body in collars, cuffs, facings, front bands and quilt-project pieces without stiffness. The 20" x 10 yard bolt is the economical way to buy it. The black bolt is for dark fabrics, where white interfacing can show as a pale shadow through the fashion fabric or at seam allowances.

It is 100% polyester and fuses on one side. Pellon does not recommend fusing it to triacetate, lace, seersucker or rainwear; for those, use the sew-in version, 910 Sew-In Featherweight. Also stocked in white.

Compare and choose

911FF vs SF101 Shape-Flex: which fusible should I use?
SF101 is a woven 100% cotton fusible: it drapes like fabric and adds body without changing the hand, which is why bag makers and garment sewists use it on outer fabrics. 911FF is a featherweight non-woven: lighter, less expensive, and fine for facings, collars and quilt pieces where you want just a little support. Use SF101 when the interfaced piece shows and needs to behave like cloth; use 911FF where light, invisible support is enough. Pellon SF101 Shape-Flex 20" x 10 yd
911FF fusible or 910 sew-in?
Same weight. 911FF is faster and holds the fabric stable for cutting and sewing. 910 is sewn in and is the choice for fabrics that do not take heat or adhesive well: Pellon lists triacetate, lace, seersucker and rainwear as not recommended for fusing. Test a swatch of anything textured or sheer before fusing. Pellon 910 Sew-In Featherweight
Black or white 911FF?
Use black under navy, charcoal, black and other dark fabrics, where white interfacing can show through or appear as a light line at seam allowances. The two are otherwise the same product. 911FF in white
How does 911FF compare to HeatnBond Feather Weight?
They are competing featherweight non-woven fusibles of similar weight and use. HeatnBond Feather Weight is sold by the yard at 20" wide; 911FF comes on a 10-yard bolt, which costs less per yard. Either works for facings and light support. HeatnBond Feather Weight Non-Woven Fusible 20"
Which side is fusible and how do I press it?
The side with the tiny adhesive dots, which feels slightly rough. Place it against the wrong side of the fabric, cover with a press cloth and press with a lift-and-set motion rather than sliding. Pellon does not print a temperature on this bolt, so fuse a scrap of your fabric first.
Is 911FF right for a t-shirt quilt?
Yes, it is one of the standard choices. Fuse it to the back of each shirt panel before cutting so the knit stops stretching, then cut and piece as usual. For very stretchy or thin shirts a slightly heavier fusible gives more control. Shop interfacing
