Description

Quilters Dream Green is a polyester batting made entirely from recycled plastic bottles, about ten bottles per pound of batting. The recycled fibers are indistinguishable from virgin polyester, and Quilters Dream leaves them the soft natural green of the bottles rather than bleaching or dyeing. The color is colorfast and does not show through quilt tops. Select is the mid loft.

Each roll is 60" wide by 30 yards. That width covers throw quilts, baby and crib quilts, table runners and wall hangings in one piece, and the 30-yard length works out to roughly fifteen throw-size cuts. It is the roll we point longarmers to for lap-quilt production and for small customer jobs where a 93" roll would waste batting. For twin tops and larger, use the 93" roll.

It is carded, crosslapped and needle-punched with no scrim or resins, so needles glide through it, and it can be stitched up to 12" apart. Finished quilts machine wash and dry with little to no shrinkage, and the batting resists wrinkling. It is not microwave-safe.

This roll is sold on pre-order and ships in roughly 8 weeks.

Compare and choose

Will the green color show through my quilt?
No. The green is a soft, pale tint left from the recycled bottles, and it is colorfast. It sits under quilt tops the way a natural cotton batting does. We would still use white poly under a pure white top with thin fabric, but for prints and colors the green is invisible. Select White Poly roll
Dream Green vs Dream Select Poly: what is the difference?
They are both mid-loft, scrim-free, resin-free polyester battings from the same maker that quilt up to 12" apart. Dream Green is made from recycled bottles and has the pale green tint; Select Poly is virgin microfiber in white or black. If you want the recycled content, buy Green; if you need bright white under a light top, buy Select Poly. Select White Poly roll
Dream Green vs Hobbs Polydown: which should I buy?
Polydown is a bonded poly with a higher loft and more puff. Dream Green is mid loft with a flatter drape, no resin, and recycled content. Choose Polydown for a fluffier quilt; choose Dream Green for a lower profile, wider quilting spacing and the environmental story. Hobbs Polydown 108" roll
Is a 60" roll wide enough for a twin quilt?
No. A twin top is about 72" wide and you want batting at least 4" wider than the shorter side of the top. The 60" roll is sized for throws (60" x 72" and smaller), crib quilts, runners and wall hangings. For twin and larger, step up to the 93" roll. 93" roll
Does it shrink, and do I need to pre-wash?
Little to no shrinkage, and no pre-washing. Finished quilts can be machine washed and dried.
Is it microwave-safe?
No. It is polyester. For bowl cozies and hot pads use 100% cotton batting without scrim and cotton thread.
Do you ship batting rolls to Alaska or Hawaii?
No. Rolls and boards ship only to the 48 contiguous states; orders from Alaska, Hawaii or outside the US are cancelled and refunded. Pre-cut packages ship to all locations. Shop packaged batting
